The Worst Is Behind Us
Wall Street says yes. Researchers say the worst is behind us. Experts that study the real estate market are saying consumer confidence is improving and stronger retail sales indicate that home sales may be more consistent and more frequent in 2012. But every market is different. Some will see the bottom sooner than others. There is still a wave of distressed inventory, 1.6 million bank-owned homes that have not hit the market yet. The shadow inventory will affect listing prices and appraisals.
It’s Local
But, again, it’s local. Markets that may see rising home prices are Orlando, Fl, Miami Fl, Bakersfield, Ca and Washington D.C. Areas that will experience further drops are Atlanta, Ga, Los Angeles, Ca and Las Vegas, Ne.There are price fluctuations from area to area. Some areas will simply remain flat but still stabilizing. Despite any crystal ball, you don’t know you’ve hit the real estate bottom until it is behind you.
